1965 Lola T60 Historic Formula 2

£99,950

The Type 60 was Lola’s new car for 1965, and was their first ever monocoque, following the example set by the successful Lotus 25 and 33. Designed by a youthful Tony Southgate a total of 5 T60s were produced, 3 of which were supplied to their main customer the Midland Racing Partnership (MRP).

Chassis number SL60/2 was the second T60 built and has extensive and illustrious history. Originally owned and raced in International F2 by MRP this highly attractive car was driven by some of the greats of the 1960s such as Chris Amon, Jo Bonnier, Richard Attwood, Frank Gardner, David Hobbs and Tony Maggs. Most notable was Frank Gardner’s second place in the 1965 Reims F2 Grand Prix, finishing behind the winning Brabham BT16 of Jochen Rindt and ahead of Jim Clark’s Lotus 35.

The Lola then spent some time in Ireland, New Zealand and Australia before being brought back to the UK in 2013 by former MRP mechanic Roger Fowler. The car then underwent a ground up restoration by Andrew Tart Motor Engineering, before being raced several times by Roger in HSCC and HGPCA grids, including at Goodwood.

Fitted with a correct Cosworth SCA engine and Hewland six-speed gearbox, both of which have had little use since rebuild. The Lola is original, meticulously maintained and immaculate and has a useful spares package which includes:

• Spare set of wheels and tyres
• Full set of body moulds
• New front and rear uprights
• New front wishbone
• Spare radiator, battery and windscreen
• Sundry gearbox parts
• Fitted cover

Complete with a huge history file, set up notes and HTP papers which are current until December 2026. A great opportunity to acquire a beautiful example of a 1960s single seater which was a significant part of Lola’s history.
